Only this year, the deadline of annual bibliography will be extended by the 25th of April.

If your bibliography includes papers published before 2006, please clearly show the fact.   Such papers will not come out in bibliography of the Journal of Irish Studies, but appear in Irish Univeirsity Review.

Also, the editorial board of the Journal of Irish Studies has modified the range of articles accepted in Annual Bibliography.  See below.

The bibliography can include books, theses, translations, review essays, reviews, and newspaper articles related to Irish Studies, but not book reviews and not short newspaper articles.

Twelfth Annual TRIESTE JOYCE SCHOOL will be held from 29 June to 5 July 2008 at the University of Trieste.

Queen’s University Belfast has a long and distinguished record in scholarship and teaching in a range of disciplines within the area of Irish Studies. To consolidate and build on this success the University unveiled its Irish Studies International Research Initiative (IRI) in 2007.

Research Fellowships in Irish Studies
A total of five posts are available for 12 months each, commencing September 2008. Successful applicants will become active members of the research team assisting in delivery of the research activity within a specified area. The posts will be allocated as shown below. Criteria and other details will be given in the application pack.
Institute of Irish Studies (x3)
Three new Fellowship posts will be available within the Institute of Irish Studies. Applications for these are welcome in the broad research area of Irish Studies but particularly in projects that can contribute to the Institute's research programme and that of the Schools in the University.
Irish Studies International Research Initiative(x2)
Two new Fellowships will be available within the Irish Studies International Research Initiative. Applicants for these posts will be expected to demonstrate that their proposed area of research falls within one of the three thematic areas currently being developed within the Institute. These are :
Ireland's Other Capital - Belfast : History, Representation, Reimagining
Political Conflict, Violence and Human Rights
Irishness in its Wider Setting : European and Global Perspectives.

Salary scale: £27,466 - £35,837 per annum (including contribution points)

The University is offering two full-time Postgraduate studentships for research leading to the award of a PhD. Applications for these studentships are invited from non EU students. 12 PhD scholarships at Trinity College Dublin

12 fully-funded 4-year PhD scholarships are available for Arts and Humanities research in Trinity College Dublin

A new interdisciplinary and inter-institutional PhD pathway for research in Arts and Humanities has been launched by Trinity College Dublin in conjunction with NUI Galway and University College Cork. 12 four-year scholarships of fees plus €16,000 per annum are available for those who wish to pursue this pathway as students of Trinity College Dublin. Other scholarships are being offered by NUI Galway and University College Cork. The scholarship competition at Trinity College Dublin is open to both EU and non-EU applicants. The closing date for entry is 1 March 2008.

Texts, Contexts, Cultures has been designed to prepare students for life in academia – and beyond. First-year students will develop their research through multi-institutional training elements in the pathway's core themes – History of the Book, Imaging Ireland and Renaissance intellectual history – much of which training will be delivered through audiovisual and online networks. Research will be supervised by multi-institutional scholarly panels. Students will also be provided with the opportunity for work placement in the knowledge economy sector.

Dr John Hegarty, Provost of Trinity College Dublin, commented that the Texts, Contexts, Cultures pathway "represents an exciting new beginning for higher education in Ireland and for higher education
itself."

2008年の2月に行われる1週間限定の映画祭、N. アイルランド・フィルム・フェス
ティ
バル2008（NIFF＝ニフ）の開催記念として、また予習として、岩見寿子さんをお迎え
して、第二次世界大戦後から現在まで、北アイルランドをテーマとした映画の歴史を
追い、北アイルランド映画の現在、そしてこれからや見所などを満載し、貴重な作品
のフッテージを織り交ぜながらレクチャーを行います。
北アイルランドの映画状況や、NIFFの上映作品への理解が深まる絶好の機会になりま

アイルランド映画研究者。
1996年、有志とともに東京の草月ホールにて「アイルランド映画祭」を開催。
現在、成城大学非常勤講師。
主な著書、翻訳書に『図説アイルランド』共著（河出書房新社）、
『フールズ・オブ・フォーチュン』（論創社）等がある。

日本で初めて【北アイルランド】にこだわった映画祭を開催します！

【北アイルランド】の魅力にのめりこんでしまった者たちが集まり、
この映画祭を企画しました！　ここで生まれつつある新たな表現、また世界的
に話題になったにも関わらずなぜか日本で上映されていない作品など、映画祭
を企画せざるをえないほどのすばらしい作品に出会い、膨大な作品数の中から、
今回厳選して映画祭を企画することになりました！

北アイルランドがこれまで歩んできた歴史、育んできた文化、いま現在、そし
てこれからの展望を、それらすべてが制作者の目を通して写し込まれる“映画”
によって、見て、感じていきたい、既存のイメージに収斂しない、北アイルラ
ンドの新たな表現を紹介したいと思っております。

現実や社会、歴史とまっすぐに向き合い、希望を紡ぎだしている、そういった
北アイルランドの表現をいま日本で見ることは価値あるものになると考えてお
ります。

映画祭にあわせて北アイルランドから２～３名の映画関係者を日本に招聘し、
トークやイベントなど、多くの方に楽しんでいただけるような多彩な映画祭を
開催したいと思っております。

現在作品を選考、準備中ですが、この機会に日本で見る機会のなかった、少な
かった話題作、最新作をピックアップして東京で１週間のみという豪華な上映
となる予定です！　まもなくラインアップを発表予定です。
